Painting in plain air is my way of exploring the beauty of nature: the glorious light, color shapes and my emotional reactions to a place. A few quick sketches to establish the composition, value range and major shapes is all I need to start. Back in the studio, a field study may evoke new feelings so I do a larger more reflective painting. Ultimately, I want to share my experience with others to enhance their understanding of nature and our place in it. |
