Pete grew up in the Midwest hardwood region, where vast tracts of native timber once stood. He developed a fondness for wood as a youngster, and has earned degrees in engineering and a wood scientist.
Pete brings unbridled enthusiasm to the art of woodturning. His love and understanding of wood help him capture those certain values that only wood offers.
He selects high quality, choice wood burls to create his hollow vessels. His pure forms and buoyant style reflect his reverence for wood, vision and natural beauty. An impeccable hand-applied finish allows the warm lustrous grain to glow on the surface of each vessel.
His enduring style, rugged and organic, yet refined, will enhance a variety of settings: from a cottage near the Lake Michigan shore, to a high country ski lodge, or a contemporary Chicago high-rise. His work would be a valued addition to any collection.
Pete has permanent exhibits with the U.S. Forest Service and in private collections around the globe.
