Daniel Newman’s career began in 1958 with an engineering degree from UCLA. As his career expanded, so did his interest in figurative drawing and stone sculpting. It wasn’t long after, that he started studying advanced stone carving under master sculptors in Pietrasanata, Italy.
In 1989, he retired from his engineering career and set out to build his home and studio in the fiery hued red rock formations of Sedona, Arizona.
Daniel has hiked many times into the red rock canyons surrounding Sedona, and although most of his stone comes from Italy and other areas of the world, on occasion he has discovered an outstanding piece of Arizona onyx to use for his sculptures. His work is contemporary with a stylized anatomy softened to present a graceful flowing line when viewed from all angles. His present work features horses, abstracts, and the human form.
