Upon graduating from Ohio State University, Lewis Woodruff began his glassblowing career. He attended the internationally acclaimed Penland School of Crafts, in the mountains of western North Carolina, to learn the many facets of the glass blowing world.

When asked why he became a glassblower, he explained he liked the feel of creating, and glass allowed him the ability to express himself like no other medium.

Among Lewis’s many creations is a masterpiece he developed while experimenting in his glass studio. Through a special application he is able to suspend countless controlled bubbles in a glass cylinder. The colorful pieces look like and have come to be known as bonsai trees.
Complicated to make, involving several intricate steps, yet each is a work of art.
